Thursday for Central Park County...

At 1045 PM, the gauge on the South Fork of the Shoshone river near
valley was at 9.4 feet, which is above flood stage of 9.0 feet. The
river will crest between 9.5 and 9.6 feet again early Thursday
morning after another 1.5 inches of water melted from the high

Flooding along the South Fork of the Shoshone river could impact the

flooding nearest the river. The flooding will continue into Thursday
morning, and potentially Friday morning, before cooler weather slows
the high elevation snow melt.

dangers of flooding.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

... A Flood Warning remains in effect until 1230 PM MDT Saturday for
central Fremont County...

At 400 PM MDT Wednesday, the Wind River near Riverton was around 9.8
feet. Latest projections have the river rising to between 10.3 and
10.5 feet both Thursday morning and Friday morning as snow melt
continues near the headwaters. The river should begin to recede by
Saturday dropping below flood stage of 9.0 feet by early next week.
Extensive agricultural flooding around Riverton and downstream to
near black bridge and Hidden Valley is expected into the weekend.

The little Wind River at Fort Washakie has leveled off around 5.1
feet with little change in the river level since late Monday. Action
stage is 4.5 feet. Downstream at Riverton, the little Wind River
stood at 8.1 feet at 400 PM Wednesday. A slow but steady decline is
anticipated with the river falling below flood stage of 8.0 feet
sometime late Wednesday night. Minor flooding should subside after
this time, with a general decline to follow through the end of the
week for the little Wind River and its tributaries.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Flooding is still occurring along rivers in central Fremont County.
Please stay away from the rivers! The water is swift, cold, and
dangerous. Do not stand on the river bank as the river may have
eroded away the land beneath the bank. Never play, swim, walk, or
drive in flood waters!

1044 am MDT Wed Jun 21 2017

The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
northwestern Fremont County in central Wyoming...

* until 1030 am MDT Friday

* at 1030 am MDT Wednesday, the Wind River at DuBois was hovering
around 4.8 feet. This reading is above action stage of 4.5 feet
and below flood stage of 5.0 feet. High temperatures between 9,500
and 10,000 feet will again reach the mid to upper 60s Wednesday
afternoon. This will provide for another round of active snow melt
with possibly 1.5 to 1.8 inches of water melting from the
snowpack. As a result, the river is likely to rise to around 5.0
feet at DuBois Thursday morning.

* Other creeks and streams feeding the Wind River are also likely
running bankfull to overflowing. One such waterway is du noir
creek where water was overtopping a private residence bridge and
was reported to have risen up to three feet in 24 hours. This rise
can be attributed to the rapid snow melt and an estimated quarter
to one-half inch of rain that fell in that basin Tuesday
afternoon. Conditions are expected to be generally dry through
Friday with a cooling trend.

* This Flood Warning replaces the previous warning that was in
effect for west central Fremont County until Thursday evening.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to mountain streams, rivers, or creeks which can
run high during active snow melt. Campers and hikers should avoid
streams or creeks.

Stay away from the river! The water is swift, cold, and dangerous.
Do not stand on the river bank as the river may have eroded away the
land beneath the bank. Never play, swim, or walk in flood waters!
