The National Weather Service in Corpus Christi has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
central Nueces County in south central Texas...
southeastern San Patricio County in south central Texas...

* until 700 PM CDT

* at 624 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm
capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. This storm
was located over Gregory... or over Portland... and moving southwest
at 30 mph.

* Locations impacted include...
Corpus Christi... Portland... Taft... Corpus Christi International
Airport... Ingleside... Gregory... Ingleside On the Bay... downtown
Corpus Christi... Ingleside--Aransas Pass... Corpus Christi del Mar

... Strong winds possible across Nueces... eastern San
Patricio and southwestern Aransas counties...

At 613 PM CDT... a strong thunderstorm was over northern San Patricio
and Aransas counties... moving southwest at 30 mph. Wind gusts to
around 40 mph are possible with this storm. In addition... an outflow
boundary has pushed ahead of the storm and may create a period of
strong northerly winds of around 40 mph... before the thunderstorm
arrives. The strong winds may push into Corpus Christi within the
next 15 to 30 minutes... creating windy and colder conditions.

afternoon...

The combination of warm temperatures and high dewpoints will
produce heat indices between 105 and 109 degrees today. Residents
with outdoor activities planned are urged to drink plenty of
water... wear light weight and light colored clothing... and take
frequent breaks from the heat. Young children and pets should
never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
This is especially true during warm or hot weather when car
interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
