Flash Flood Warning

The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
McCurtain County in southeastern Oklahoma...
Franklin County in northeastern Texas...
northwestern Bowie County in northeastern Texas...
Titus County in northeastern Texas...
Red River County in northeastern Texas...

* until 945 am CST

* at 350 am CST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
showers and thunderstorms continued to produce moderate to heavy
rain across the warned area. Widespread rainfall amounts across
the warned area range from three to five inches with isolated
higher amounts. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches will
be possible through the mid morning hours today. Flash flooding is
expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Mount Pleasant, Winnsboro, Clarksville, Hagansport, Boxelder,
Idabel, Broken Bow, Mount Vernon, De Kalb, Bogata, Scroggins,
Purley, Dalby Springs, Wilkerson, Bagwell, Manchester, Wright City,
Valliant, Detroit and Winfield.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

... The Flood Warning extended until Saturday evening... the Flood
Warning continues for
the Sulphur river below Talco.
* From this morning to Saturday evening... or until the warning is
cancelled.
* At 2:45 am Wednesday the stage was 14.5 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by late this morning and continue
to rise to near 25.0 feet by tomorrow evening. The river will fall
below flood stage by Saturday morning.
* Impact... at 25.0 feet... expect moderate flooding of lowland areas
with some secondary roadways closed. All cattle and equipment
nearby the river should be moved to higher ground.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Arkansas, northwest Louisiana, southeast Oklahoma,
and northeast Texas, including the following areas, in
Arkansas, Columbia, Hempstead, Howard, Lafayette, Little
River, Miller, Nevada, Sevier, and Union. In northwest
Louisiana, Bossier, Caddo, Claiborne, and Webster. In
southeast Oklahoma, McCurtain. In northeast Texas, Bowie,
Camp, Cass, Cherokee, Franklin, Gregg, Harrison, Marion,
Morris, Panola, Red River, Rusk, Smith, Titus, Upshur, and
wood.

* Through late tonight.

* Periods of excessive heavy rainfall associated with a very slow
moving frontal boundary may result in areas of flash flooding as
training of showers and thunderstorms will likely occur over the
watch area with a total of 3-6 inches of rainfall expected.
Some isolated higher amounts are possible.

* Flash flooding of roads, low lying, and poor drainage areas
will be possible. If you encounter flash flooding while
driving your vehicle, remember to turn around, don't drown.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
