... Flash Flood Watch in effect from Sunday afternoon through
Sunday evening...

The National Weather Service in Elko has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of east central Nevada... north
central Nevada and south central Nevada... including the
following areas... in east central Nevada... White Pine County.
In north central Nevada... southern Lander County and southern
Eureka County. In south central Nevada... northeastern Nye
County and northwestern Nye County.

* From Sunday afternoon through Sunday evening

* scattered to numerous slow-moving thunderstorms will produce
locally heavy rainfall. Excessive rainfall rates are expected
from the strongest thunderstorms.

* Areas most prone to flash flooding include small creeks and
streams in and near the higher terrain... near any burn
scars... and normally dry washes. Rock slides and debris/water
flows over roadways are possible. Low lying areas... where most
roads are... will be susceptible to flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

... Warmest calendar month ever at Winnemucca Airport NV...

The average temperature at Winnemucca Airport during July 2014 was
77.5 degrees. This is the warmest average temperature ever recorded
during the month of July... or any calendar month. The previous
record warmest calendar month was July 1931... when the average
temperature was 77.2 degrees.

Records at Winnemucca date back to 1877.

... July 2014 climatological summary for northeastern and central
Nevada...

As with many months before it... July 2014 was dominated by a
strong ridge of high pressure. This ridge was so strong that it
brought record or near record warmth across the entire region. It
also was accompanied by multiple strong monsoon moisture surges
which resulted in above normal precipitation in parts of the
area... though some areas missed out on the typically hit-and-miss
convective precipitation and ended up below normal.

The tables below summarize the weather at four of our Airport
climate sites during the month. Temperatures are in degrees
fahrenheit... while precipitation is in inches.
