The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued an

* Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
southern Curry County in east central New Mexico
northern Roosevelt County in east central New Mexico

* until 1215 PM MDT

* at 1008 am MDT National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
persistent moderate to locally heavy rain stretching from Melrose
to Clovis and south to Portales.

* Strong flows and high water levels are expected in arroyos... small
streams and over low water crossings.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.

... Flash Flood Watch in effect through late tonight...

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has expanded the

* Flash Flood Watch to include a portion of north and central New
Mexico... including the following areas... Curry County... De Baca
County and Roosevelt County.

* Through late tonight

* remnant moisture from former Hurricane Odile is likely to
produce heavy rain as it streams over the east central and
southeast plains today through tonight. A few locations may receive
over 3 inches of rain.

* Urban areas and low spots will be especially susceptible to
flash flooding. Keep a watchful eye on small streams... arroyos...
washes and ditches... and stay out of flooded low water
crossings.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to
flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash
flood warnings be issued.
