The National Weather Service in Midland has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Lea County in southeastern New Mexico...
eastern Eddy County in southeastern New Mexico...

* until 715 PM MDT

* at 412 PM MDT... Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across eastern Eddy County... and much of Lea County.
One to two inches of rain have already fallen along the eddy and
Lea County line... and between Hobbs and Gladiola and Hobbs and
Lovington since 2 PM MDT. Additional rain will increase the flash
flood threat.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Hobbs... Carlsbad... Lovington... Eunice... Jal... Tatum... Loving...
Crossroads... Malaga... McDonald... Knowles... Caprock... Jal Airport...
Eunice Airport... Avalon... Buckeye... Oil Center... Monument...
Carlsbad north and Maljamar.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... country roads... farmland... and other low lying
spots.

Texas... Andrews... Big Bend area... Crane... Davis/Apache
Mountains area... Dawson... Ector... Gaines... Guadalupe
Mountains... Loving... Marfa Plateau... Martin... Midland...
Pecos... Presidio valley... Reeves County and upper trans
Pecos... Terrell... Upton... Van Horn and Highway 54 corridor...
Ward and Winkler.

* Through Wednesday morning

* heavy rainfall is forecast over areas which received flash
flooding Sunday night and Monday. Any additional rainfall
could cause flash flooding.

* Low water crossings... bar ditches... Oilfield lease roads...
underpasses... and other urban areas prone to high water.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
