The National Weather Service in Hastings has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
east central Nuckolls County in south central Nebraska...
central Thayer County in south central Nebraska...

* until 745 PM CDT Wednesday

* at 748 am CDT... the river gauge on the Little Blue river near
DeWeese was reporting a river stage of 11 feet, which is 1 foot
above the flood stage of 10 feet. The river is now cresting at
DeWeese and the high water is moving downstream into eastern
Nuckolls and Thayer counties.

* Minor flooding is likely along the Little Blue river in eastern
Nuckolls and Thayer counties through Wednesday.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

* at 1027 PM CDT... extensive flooding is expected to continue
across multiple roads in the area due to recent heavy rain.

* Some locations that will continue to experience flooding include...
Blue Hill... Nelson... Lawrence... Bladen... Roseland... Ayr...
DeWeese and Rosemont.

This includes the following streams and drainages... Oxbow creek...

The Flood Warning continues for
the Little Blue river near DeWeese.
* At 7:15 PM Monday the stage was 10.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 10.7 feet by
around 1 am Tuesday. The river will fall below flood stage by
around sunrise Tuesday morning.
* At 10.0 feet... water overflows rural agricultural land.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of north central Kansas and south central Nebraska...
including the following areas... in north central Kansas...
Jewell... Mitchell... Osborne... Phillips... Rooks and Smith. In
south central Nebraska... Adams... Clay... Fillmore... Franklin...
Harlan... Kearney... Nuckolls... Thayer and Webster.

* Through this afternoon

* slow-moving thunderstorms will be possible and this could lead
to excessive rainfall amounts and flash flooding.

* Very heavy rainfall rates of 2 inches per hour will be
possible.

* Some areas within the watch area have received substantial
rainfall in the last 24 to 36 hrs or within the last 30 days. If
heavy rain falls on saturated soil... it will rapidly be
converted to runoff.

* Impacts... flooding of low lying areas could occur. Roads could
be covered and impassible due to flowing or standing water.
Roadway pavement may be washed away. Some dirt and secondary
gravel roads could be washed out. Rapid rises could occur in
rivers... creeks and streams.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
