* Rip current risk... high.

* Surf height... 5 to 7 feet at the Pender and New Hanover beaches
and 4 to 5 feet at the Brunswick... Horry... and Georgetown County
beaches on Tuesday.

* Other hazards... moderate to strong north to south longshore
current at the east facing beaches on Tuesday... which includes
Pender... New Hanover... Horry... and Georgetown counties.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in The
Sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as groins, jetties
and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards, and pay attention to beach
patrol flags and signs.

There is a high risk of rip currents. Life threatening rip currents
are likely in the surf zone.

you have to swim out of a rip current, swim parallel to shore and
back toward the beach when possible. Do not attempt to swim directly
against a rip current as you will tire quickly.
