Areal Flood Warning

Statement as of 7:19 PM EDT on April 24, 2017

Expires 1:15 AM EDT on April 25, 2017

The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
Alamance County in central North Carolina...
Forsyth County in central North Carolina...
Davidson County in central North Carolina...
Orange County in central North Carolina...
Harnett County in central North Carolina...
Randolph County in central North Carolina...
Guilford County in central North Carolina...
Lee County in central North Carolina...
Chatham County in central North Carolina...

* until 115 am EDT Tuesday

* at 711 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated areas of moderate to
locally heavy rain moving into the western and northeast Piedmont.
Much of this region has already received between two and four
inches of rain with localized amounts near five inches. This rain
has saturated the ground. Additional rainfall will run off,
quickly filling rain swollen creeks and streams, leading to
flooding. Abbotts Creek in Davidson County was rain swollen, and
will likely flood low lying areas in vicinity of Lexington.
Additional rainfall amounts of one to two inches through 11 PM are
possible in the warned area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.

Do not underestimate the power of flood waters. Only a few inches of
rapidly flowing water can quickly carry away your vehicle.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.
