Special Statement

Statement as of 6:08 PM EDT on April 24, 2017

Expires 7:00 AM EDT on April 25, 2017

... Downed trees and powerlines possible tonight...

Persistent rain has saturated the ground, making it quite soggy.
Meanwhile, brisk northeast winds are probable tonight as an area
of low pressure moves northward over eastern North Carolina. Wind
gusts 20 to 25 mph are possible. These winds can easily topple
trees with shallow or weakened roots due to the soggy soil. Some
of these trees may fall on powerlines, resulting in sporadic
power outages.
