The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
north central Norfolk County in eastern Massachusetts...

* until 1145 PM EDT

* at 1045 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause
minor Urban and Small Stream flooding. Overflowing poor drainage
areas will result in minor flooding in the advisory area. Up to
1.5 inches of rain has already fallen in the advisory area and an
additional 1 inch of rainfall in a short period of time is
possible within the next 30 to 60 minutes.

* Some locations that will experience minor flooding include
Needham... Norwood... Wellesley... Dedham... Walpole... Westwood...
Medfield and Dover.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water on highways... streets and
underpasses. Do not drive through flooded roads.

A Flood Advisory is issued for minor Urban and Small Stream flooding.

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Thursday morning...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire...
including the following counties... in Massachusetts...
Barnstable... Bristol... Essex... Middlesex... Norfolk... Plymouth
and Suffolk. In southern New Hampshire... Hillsborough.

* Through Thursday morning

* periods of heavy rain with embedded thunderstorms will continue
overnight into Thursday morning... before tapering to scattered
showers by Thursday afternoon.

* A widespread 1.50 to 2.50 inches of rain is anticipated... but
localized 4 inch amounts are possible. This may result in areas of
localized flooding... especially in urban areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.




High Wind Warning

Statement as of 9:40 PM EDT on October 22, 2014

Expires 8:00 AM EDT on October 23, 2014


... High Wind Warning remains in effect until 8 am EDT Thursday...

* location... the eastern Massachusetts coast including the
Boston metropolitan area.

* Winds... northeast 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.

* Timing... the strongest winds will occur tonight with gusts up
to 60 mph possible. The highest of these winds will be across
coastal Essex County.

* Impacts... these strong winds will result in downed trees and
power outages. The heavy rain combined with many fully leafed
trees will likely exacerbate the potential for downed trees.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A High Wind Warning is issued when sustained winds of 40 mph are
expected for at least an hour... with gusts of 58 mph or greater
at any time. Damage to trees... power lines... and property are
possible with wind of this magnitude. Power outages are likely.
Take action now to secure any loose outdoor objects.
