northwestern Leavenworth County in northeastern Kansas...
eastern Atchison County in northeastern Kansas...
southern Buchanan County in northwestern Missouri...
Platte County in west central Missouri...

* until 930 PM CDT

* at 841 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Lewis And
Clark Village, or near Atchison, moving east at 40 mph.

Hazard... 60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

Source... radar indicated.

Impact... expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
Kansas City, Leavenworth, Atchison, Platte City, Weston, Gower,
agency, Edgerton, Dearborn, Camden Point, Ferrelview, Rushville,
Easton, Tracy, Lewis And Clark Village, Farley, De Kalb, Ridgely,
Iatan and Fort Leavenworth.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 29 between mile markers 9 and 39.
Interstate 435 between mile markers 26 and 39.

The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
southeastern Atchison County in northeastern Kansas...

* until 115 am CDT

* at 721 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Up to three to three and half
inches of rain have already fallen. Another 1 to 2 inches of rain
is possible in the next 1 to 2 hours. Flash flooding is expected
to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Atchison, Cummings and Potter.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Kansas and Missouri, including the following
areas, in Kansas, Atchison KS, Doniphan, Johnson KS,
Leavenworth, Linn KS, Miami, and Wyandotte. In Missouri,
Andrew, Bates, Buchanan, Caldwell, Carroll, Cass, Chariton,
Clay, Clinton, Daviess, De Kalb, Grundy, Henry, Jackson,
Johnson MO, Lafayette, Linn MO, Livingston, Pettis, Platte,
ray, Saline, and Sullivan.

* From 10 PM CDT this evening through Tuesday morning

* a storm system with a slow moving cold front will bring periods
of moderate to heavy rain to the watch area late tonight into
Tuesday morning. Total rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches appear
likely, however some areas may receive higher amounts before
rain comes to an end late Tuesday morning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
