Areal Flood Advisory

Statement as of 2:40 PM EDT on September 02, 2014

Expires 4:45 PM EDT on September 02, 2014

The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a

* Flood Advisory for minor flooding of poor drainage areas in...
western Liberty County in southeast Georgia...
Long County in southeast Georgia...

* until 445 PM EDT

* at 230 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain occurring along a line extending from 6 miles north of
Trinity to Ludowici... or along a line extending from 10 miles
northeast of Fort Stewart to Ludowici. This line of heavy rain was
nearly stationary.

Radar estimates that rainfall rates are as high as 1 to 2 inches
per hour in the advisory area. This much rainfall is sufficient to
produce flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas and cause
significant ponding of water on roadways.

* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to...
Ludowici... Elim... Gum Branch... Wefanie... Jones Creek...

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

This heavy rainfall will result in significant ponding of water on
area roads and in low spots. Slow down to reduce the risk of
hydroplaning. If water covers the entire roadway or is flowing... find
another Route. The water is probably much deeper than it appears and
only one foot of water can stall a vehicle. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.
