Flash Flood Watch

Statement as of 11:21 AM EST on January 22, 2017

Expires 7:00 PM EST on January 22, 2017

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 PM EST this
evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* north and central Georgia.

* Until 7 PM EST this evening.

* A strong upper level disturbance and abundant Gulf moisture
will combine to create widespread showers and thunderstorms
overnight and well into Sunday. Rainfall will be heavy at
times and may move repeatedly across the same areas. Two to
four inches of rain has already fallen today. Additional
rainfall amounts of one to three inches will be likely... with
locally higher amounts possible.

* Flooding in low lying and flood prone areas will be likely. In
addition... creeks... streams and rivers may overflow their
banks.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

Wind Advisory

Statement as of 9:56 AM EST on January 22, 2017

Expires 7:00 PM EST on January 23, 2017

... Wind Advisory in effect from 1 am to 7 PM EST Monday...

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a Wind
Advisory... which is in effect from 1 am to 7 PM EST Monday.

* Locations... north and central Georgia

* winds... 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph. Winds will be
southwest Monday morning... shifting to the northwest by Monday
afternoon.

* Timing... winds will be gusty today in and near developing
storms... but the threat of high non-convective winds will begin
following the storms. The main threat will be between 1 am and
7pm Monday... although some winds may remain gusty into Monday
night... particularly in the north Georgia mountains.

* Impacts... these winds may break tree branches and down weaker
trees... particularly those in saturated soils due to recent
heavy rainfall. Unsecured outdoor items may be blown around.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that winds of at least 20 mph or wind gusts
of at least 35 mph mph are expected. Winds this strong can make
driving difficult... especially for high profile vehicles. Use
extra caution.
