Winter Storm Warning

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 PM MST this
afternoon...

* locations include the cities of... Cortez... Dove Creek...
Mancos... Durango... Bayfield... Ignacio... Pagosa Springs.

* Timing... snow showers will gradually taper off through this
evening with snow ending overnight.

* Snow accumulation... additional 2 to 4 inches with storm total
snowfall ranging from 8 to 16 inches. Locally higher amounts are
possible on the higher ridges and near the foothills.

* Winds... west 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

* Impacts... roadways will be snow packed with winter driving
conditions continuing through the weekend. Visibilities will
be reduced to under a half mile at times.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow are
expected or occurring. Strong winds and blowing snow are also
possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.

The winter storm that began Thursday morning, Jan. 19, with the first
wave continues to impact western Colorado and eastern Utah with snowfall
from a second wave this afternoon.

The following reports are preliminary and are considered unofficial. The
first section containing the mountain ranges are mostly from automated
sensors, while the second section is a combination of various reports,
some of which are 24 hour values and some are 48.
